Washington, D.C.–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–October 21, 2003–Actress Belita Moreno, of ABC’s George Lopez show, is taking a break from the show’s production schedule to join hundreds of Hispanic women in San Diego, Calif. for CATALINA’s final “2003 Empowering Latinas” tour stop.
Moreno – whose feature film credits include Mommy Dearest, Swing Shift, Nobody’s Fool, Grosse Pointe Blank, and Clear and Present Danger – is the keynote speaker for the “Empowering Latinas” luncheon and event held at the Marina Village Convention Center on Tuesday, October 28, 2003, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The San Diego event also includes sessions for “the mind, body, and soul of today’s Latina,” networking opportunities, and award-winning entertainment – all catering to San Diego’s Latina community. The event’s emcee is San Diego’s Catherine Garcia, NBC 7/39’s anchor and reporter.
There are raffle prizes – including a $500 Marshalls gift certificate – and goodie bags, to be given away. Those who plan to attend are encouraged to confirm early, seating is limited.

CATALINA’s San Diego event marks the end of the magazine’s national 2003 Empowering Latinas tour. To date, more than 3,000 professional Hispanic women have attended the tour. CATALINA donates a portion of the event registration fees to a non-profit Hispanic organization in the host cities. According to the Houston Chronicle, $40,000 was raised for scholarships during the Houston event. In San Diego, a portion of the event proceeds will be donated to MANA San Diego, a local non-profit for Latinas.
