The VERB. It’s What You Do Campaign, a campaign that aims to get 9-13 year-olds also known as “tweens,” to be more active, invites elected officials, community leaders, and families to join them at a “VERB Activity Fair” Press Conference to learn more about the campaign and hear an exciting announcement about its positive impact on the nation’s tweens. Findings will be provided at event and can not be released prior.
Local YMCA Representative Hulda Manjster will make an announcement and Hispanic families and playing children will be in attendance. Manjster is available for interviews in Spanish.

The VERB campaign, launched in 2002 by Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson, has demonstrated to be an effective approach to promoting a healthier lifestyle for kids and engaging the community and children to improve their health by becoming more physically active. The campaign encourages 9-13 year olds, known in marketing terms as “tweens” to find a VERB (such as run, dance, bowl, etc.) or several VERBs that fit their personality and interests. The campaign then encourages tweens to use “their VERB” as a launching pad to become active and involved and to make regular physical activity and healthy behaviors a lifetime pursuit. A study was conducted reviewing the campaign and its impact on the community.
— Children will be participating in activities such as basketball and other sports, playing games, and demonstrating how much fun physical activity can be.
