Glendale, CA–(HISPANIC PR WRIE)–July 30, 2007–Cocinando con Nestlé Chef Lorena Garcia, celebrity chef on Telemundo’s “Cada Día con Maria Antonieta,” celebrated Chicago’s Fiesta del Sol Festival cooking “live” for her fans. She also presented special summer recipes to cool off from the hot Chicago weather.
At the Cocinando con Nestlé corner, thousands of cooking fans had the unique opportunity to learn from Nestlé Chef Lorena García how to prepare delicious and easy food recipes made with NESTLÉ(R) LA LECHERA(R), MAGGI(R), ABUELITA(R) and NESCAFÉ(R) brands. Several fans also walked away with gift baskets filled with Nestlé products and merchandise.
“Nestlé products are a big part of my inspiration and essential ingredients for preparing main dishes, desserts, and beverages that have an authentic, home-made taste,” Garcia told her fans at the Fiesta del Sol Festival.
And just in time for the summer, Nestlé Chef Lorena has four easy to prepare summer recipes to beat the heat by not requiring a lot of time in a hot kitchen:
Ingredients (Makes 4 servings)
3 envelopes NESTLÉ(R) ABUELITA(R) Instant Chocolate Drink Mix
4 cups ice cube
1 can (12 fl.oz.) evaporated milk or 1 ½ cups of milk
2 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional)
PLACE Abuelita, ice, evaporated milk and sugar in blender; cover. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
COOKIES & CREAM SHAKE
Ingredients (Makes 4 servings)
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1 cup milk
8 cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies
2 to 3 tablespoons NESCAFÉ CLÁSICO(R) Instant Coffee Granules
PLACE ice cream, milk, cookies and coffee granules in blender; cover. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
STEAK A LA MAGGI(R)
¾ cup hot water
3 MAGGI(R) Beef Ribs Flavor Bouillon Tablets
½ cup chopped cilantro
2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon dried oregano
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 ½ lbs. flank steak
COMBINE water and bouillon in medium bowl. Break up bouillon and stir until dissolved. Stir in cilantro, sugar, chili powder, oregano and cumin. Pour into 1-gallon heavy-duty plastic bag. Add flank steak; squeeze out as much air from bag as possible. Marinate in refrigerator, turning steak occasionally, for at least 4 hours or overnight.
PREHEAT grill or broiler. Remove steak from bag; discard marinade.
GRILL or broil using medium heat for 7 to 8 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Let steak rest for 10 minutes before cutting. Cut steak against the grain on the diagonal in thin slices to serve.
DULCE DE LECHE DIPPING SAUCE
2 cans (7.6 fl. oz. each) NESTLÉ(R) Media Crema(R)
1 can (13.4 oz.) NESTLÉ(R) LA LECHERA(R) Dulce de Leche
2 tablespoons Irish cream liqueur (optional)
PLACE media crema, dulce de leche and liqueur in blender; cover. Blend until smooth. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Serve as a dipping sauce for assorted fruits.
