New York, NY–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–May 19, 2006–For the first time in its fifteen year history, the Latino Commission on AIDS will bestow its prestigious Rosie Perez Fuerza Award to a corporation. The award, which is named for the actor in tribute to her support and recognizes advocates in the fight against AIDS, will be presented during the annual benefit gala Cielo Latino on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at the legendary Copacabana in New York City. ALDO will be presented with the award in honor of the ongoing awareness and education campaign ALDO Fights AIDS and the company’s history of economic support to HIV/AIDS community and research organizations.

This award symbolizes our commitment to those living with HIV/AIDS and their families” said Robert Hoppenheim, general manager at ALDO. “Through educational campaigns such as ALDO Fights AIDS we seek to eradicate the stigma associated with this health condition. Over the years, ALDO has commited millions of dollars to AIDS awareness and research organizations. The ALDO Fights AIDS campaign uses a powerful combination of top celebrities and multiple media genres, featured in over 20 countries, to communicate real facts associated with the disease. Numerous Hispanic celebrities have participated in the campaign including Juanes, Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, Eva Mendez and Cristina Aguilera among others. Established in 1991, the Latino Commission on AIDS is a non-profit organization that works feverishly to improve the health status of the Hispanic community in the United States.
