WASHINGTON, July 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Sam’s Club hosted the USHCC Foundation Chamber Training Institute in Chicago from June 11 – June 14, 2011. In partnership with the University of Notre Dame and underwritten by Sam’s Club, the USHCC’s four-day nonprofit certificate program covered topics related to “Nonprofit Growth Management.”
The four-day Chamber Training Institute addressed over 30 participants who represented over 20 different Hispanic Chambers of Commerce from across the country on topics that the USHCC’s members had requested throughout the year: How to use social media to market, financial management for nonprofit organizations, membership growth, nonprofit law and the impact of Hispanic population growth on business.
“We brought in top speakers to address each of the areas requested by our members and the program received glowing reviews from attendees,” says Marc Hardy, Director of Nonprofit Executive Programs at the University of Notre Dame. “The responses from the participants were the most complimentary we have ever received, including from those who have attended USHCC Chamber Training Institutes in the past.”
Participants who completed all four days of the program received a Certificate in “Nonprofit Growth Management” from the University of Notre Dame.
“By far this was one of the best trainings the USHCC Foundation has offered,” says Carlos Solorzano Cuadra, President & CEO of the Latin American & Caribbean Chamber of Commerce. “The membership building, social media, non-profit status, finance and budgeting, and the Latino immigration workshops provided us with the tools to be resourceful, and to be able to provide our membership with skills to survive in the tech world. As a Latino Chamber executive, the training gave me the skills to put our chamber on the map and on the road to success. I want to thank the sponsors and the USHCC Foundation for this opportunity”.
“We are fortunate that this program has received the support of outstanding corporate partners like Sam’s Club and Wells Fargo who help us provide programs that educate Hispanic business executives on best practices to run their chambers more effectively,” says Javier Palomarez, USHCC President & CEO. “This program is creating a lot of momentum across the country and making an impact for our members. We look forward to another highly attended Chamber Training Institute in September at our 32nd Annual National Convention and Business Expo in Miami Beach.”
