SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 14, 2012 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (www.NHCLC.org), also known as the Hispanic Evangelical Association, the nation’s largest Christian Hispanic organization has announced Personhood USA as an NHCLC LIFE Directive Partner.

The NHCLC exists to unify, serve and represent the Hispanic Evangelical Community with the divine (vertical) and human (horizontal) elements of the Christian message via seven Directives. The NHCLC states in its LIFE Directive (http://www.nhclc.org/en/life), “Our commitment to the sanctity of life is not a matter of partisan loyalty, for we recognize that in the thirty-nine years since the U.S. Supreme Court’s controversial Roe vs. Wade decision, elected officials and appointees of both major political parties have been complicit in giving legal sanction to what Pope John Paul II described as ‘the culture of death.’ We call on all officials in the United States of America, elected and appointed, to protect and serve every member of our society, including the most marginalized, voiceless, and vulnerable among us.”

Personhood USA (http://www.personhoodusa.com) is aligned with the NHCLC’s LIFE Directive in that it is a movement working to respect the God-given right to life by recognizing all human beings as persons who are “created in the image of God” from the beginning of their biological development, without exceptions. Personhood espouses the cultural and legal recognition of the equal and unalienable rights of human beings. Currently it has 1,035,996 total signatures in support of personhood.

“Personhood USA is honored to partner with the NHCLC. We believe that the Hispanic community holds the key to restoring pro-life values in America. We are confident this partnership will bear amazing fruit honoring God and changing our culture to respect the basic rights of all humans,” said Keith Mason, President of Personhood USA.

The NHCLC also states under its LIFE Directive that the “Bible enjoins us to defend those who cannot defend themselves, to speak for those who cannot themselves speak. And so we defend and speak for the unborn, the disabled, and the dependent.” The NHCLC strongly believes it is critical to partner and unite with like-minded organizations to be most effective in all of seven of its Directives (http://www.nhclc.org/en/7-directives).

Rev. Eliezer Bonilla, Sr. Pastor of Abundant Life Church of God in San Antonio, Texas, and NHCLC Executive Board Member, said, “At a time when the redefinition of what a person is and when a person begins, we find voices like Personhood USA clarifying and reaffirming who a person is-a human being at any age. The NHCLC is proud to partner with Personhood USA as joint voices that rise in this nation, at this historic time, in the defense of a person’s unalienable rights to life from the moment of conception and beyond.”

The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference is the Hispanic Evangelical Association unifying, serving and representing the Hispanic Born Again Community via 34,200 member churches and 16 million constituents by reconciling the vertical and horizontal of the Christian message through the 7 Directives of Life, Family, Great Commission, Stewardship, Justice, Education and Youth.
