Vienna, VA –(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–August 4, 2003–Look in your wallet. Chances are, you have Rosario Marin’s name and signature in there. The Former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin certainly left her mark in history books when she became the highest-ranking Latina in the Bush Administration. This week, she will be leaving her mark in Houston when she visits the city for the first time since leaving the Treasury. Marin is the guest speaker at CATALINA magazine and the Hispanic Women in Leadership’s “Empowering Latinas” event this Thursday, August 7.
The event is part of CATALINA’s national Empowering Latinas Tour, which provides attendees with information, inspiration, and entertainment during a program which includes the following topics: Feed Your Body, Feed Your Mind, and Taking Control.
Invited guest speakers for the Houston stop include Third Watch Star (and CATALINA’s July/August Cover Model) Tia Texada; SBA Director of Interagency Affairs Mary Jean Duran; and Diva Garza, Chairman of the Board of the Hispanic
Resource Team, CATALINA’s career columnist; and several of Houston’s Latina leaders.
Rosario Marin may also join Houston locals on the catwalk during the evening’s grand finale, the “Dress for Success” fashion show sponsored by Marshalls.
“The event gives us an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of our fellow Latinas, from D.C. to Houston and beyond,” says CATALINA publisher Cathy Areu Jones. “We’re confident everyone will leave truly inspired.”
Sponsors include New York Life, Crest, Eden Foods, Latin Clips, Marshalls, Southwest Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Volvo, and Whole Foods Market.
This event will be held at the Westin Oaks, Houston, starting at 6 p.m. The fashion show begins at 8 p.m. The evening’s entertainment will be Lizzette Abreu sponsored by Houston’s Raices Latinas, a non-profit group promoting young
Latina singers. The next stop for the Empowering Latinas Tour is at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
