New York, NY–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–May 22, 2007–Nueva York, the Spanish-speaking series produced by CUNY TV (Channel 75), is now in its second season. Since its creation in 2005, the show has resonated with New Yorkers from all backgrounds. The program responds to viewer’s strong desire to discover the many facets of Latino life and culture in New York.

The program’s main purpose has been to explore the diversity of Latino society in this city. The 30-minute show, airing on Channel 75, covers the politics, art, culture, and traditions of the Spanish-speaking peoples visiting and living in New York City.

In each episode, prominent leaders in the cultural and public spheres of the tri-state area share their thoughts and achievements. In addition, the series offers documentary segments about notable events, exhibits, concerts, and institutions.

Describing this initiative, series senior producer Jerry Carlson said: “Nueva York shows the multiple visions that are shaping the ever-evolving cultural landscape of Latino life in the Gran Manzana. The program explores ideas and forms of expression that are reshaping Latino identity within what is arguably the most important and diverse Spanish speaking city in the world: New York.”

Mexican novelist and critic Carmen Boullosa and the Chilean journalist and writer Patricio Lerzundi, both faculty members of The City University of New York, host Nueva York. The producers of the series are bilingual professionals from Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, and U. S.

The series is broadcast every first and second Thursday of the month at 10am, 4pm, & 10pm. The episodes are repeated at 2pm on Saturday.
