Xenon Pictures announces the exclusive DVD release of the hit telenovela ‘Rosalinda’ Includes English subtitles and bonus photo gallery!

Santa Monica, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–October 11, 2005–Xenon Pictures Inc, the leading distributor of Spanish-language DVD content in the U.S. has announced the October 18th release of Rosalinda, one of Latin America’s most popular telenovelas (soap operas), starring Latin pop diva Thalia.

The double-disc Televisa Home Entertainment DVD—more than 7 hours in length—includes English subtitles, a photo gallery and other great bonus features. Rosalinda has a suggested retail price of $19.99 and will be available at major retail and online stores in the full-screen format. (for photos please visit:

Crossover singing star Thalia is Rosalinda, a decent, beautiful young woman who works in a flower shop to pay for her education while aspiring to become a great singer. She finds love with pianist and composer Fernando Jose Altamirano (Fernando Carrillo—TV’s “Ponderosa”), and though they are soon wed, unforeseen circumstances force them apart. Maybe it’s because Rosalinda has discovered that her birth mother, long believed to be dead, is actually serving a prison sentence—for the murder of Francisco José’s father! The all-star cast features Mexico’s eternal grande dames Angelica Maria (“La Antorcha Encendida”), and Lupita Ferrer (“Soledad”).

Originally televised in 1999, Rosalinda was shot in beautiful, lush Veracruz, Mexico, and broadcast in a record 110 countries around the world, including the United States, Mexico, the Philippines, Israel, Colombia, China, France, Spain, Canada, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Romania and Greece, among others. The telenovela’s premiere was the most anticipated television event of the year as it marked the return to acting by Mexico’s sweetheart, Thalia. Ironically, this was also the superstar’s last novela.

With an original script by Delia Fiallio, one of Latin America’s most respected and renowned writers, Rosalinda joins a group of hit telenovelas now available on DVD, such as Amor Real and Rubí, the top Nielsen-rated novelas of 2004, along with the superb collection of classics from Latin America’s most beloved character Lo Mejor del Chavo del 8, which has sold over 600,000 copies to date.

Other titles now available on DVD include the classic Mexican epic La Antorcha Encendida, a 4-disc dramatization of the struggle for Mexico’s independence, Mi Verdad, the controversial and sexually charged story of the scandalous relationship between notorious Mexican producer Juan Osorio and voluptuous Cuban dancer Niurka Marcos, La Usurpadora (with Gabriela Spanic, Fernando Colunga and Libertad Lamarque), Niña … Amada Mia (with Karyme Lozano and Sergio Goyri), El Manantial (with Adela Noriega and Mauricio Islas), Juan Pablo II: Testigo de Esperanza (a documentary on the life of Pope John Paul II), Abrazame Muy Fuerte (with Aracely Arambula, Fernando Colunga, Victoria Ruffo and Cesar Evora), along with many other classics.

Xenon Pictures, Inc, has also announced the upcoming DVD release of the telenovela El Privilegio de Amar, starring Adela Noriega (“Amor Real”), Rene Strickler and Andrés García, the Holiday-themed Navidad con el Chavo del 8, and Chespirito: El Niño que Somos, a documentary on the life of Roberto Gomez Bolaños, the legendary Latin America entertainer and 2005 recipient of Univision’s Premios Juventud “Idol of Generations” Award, among other accolades. More information about the upcoming DVD releases will be forthcoming.
