Cocinando con Nestlé Chef Lorena García Celebrates 116th Street Festival and Provides Recipes for a Great Father’s Day Celebration

Glendale, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–June 13, 2007–Cocinando con Nestlé Chef Lorena Garcia, celebrity chef on Telemundo’s “Cada Día con Maria Antonieta,” celebrated 116th Street Festival in New York cooking “live” for her fans. She also presented a special Father’s Day recipe as a way to show love for the man of the family.

At the Cocinando con Nestlé corner, thousands of cooking fans had the unique opportunity to learn from Nestlé Chef Lorena García how to prepare delicious and easy food recipes made with NESTLÉ(R) LA LECHERA(R), MAGGI(R), ABUELITA(R) and NESCAFÉ(R) brands. Several fans also walked away with gift baskets filled with Nestlé products and merchandise.

“Nestlé products are a big part of my inspiration and essential ingredients for preparing main dishes, desserts, and beverages that have an authentic, home-made taste,” Garcia told her fans at 116th Street Festival.

And just in time for Father’s Day (June 17), Nestlé Chef Lorena presented a great recipe idea for Dad that both Mom and kids can prepare. “With the aid of the Nestlé brands, the entire family can enjoy the flavors and taste of our favorite meals from our Latin American countries,” said Garcia.

Tamarind Pork Ribs (makes 4 servings)

INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 lb. pork ribs, cut into individual ribs

1 large onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, chopped

2 cups water

¼ cup tamarind paste

4 to 5 tablespoons brown sugar or grated piloncillo

2 tablespoons red wine vinegar

2 MAGGI Beef Ribs Flavor Bouillon Tablets

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, dissolved in ¼ cup dry red wine

Hot cooked rice

DIRECTIONS

HEAT oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ribs; cook, turning frequently, until browned. Remove; set aside.

ADD onion to same skillet; cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 4 minutes or until tender. Add garlic; cook for 30 seconds. Add water, tamarind paste, sugar, vinegar and bouillon. Return ribs to skillet; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover.

COOK for 1 hour or until pork is tender. Remove ribs; set aside and keep warm. Boil sauce until reduced by half, skimming off fat. Add flour mixture; cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes or until sauce is thick. Pour sauce over ribs. Serve with rice or a salad.
