Walt Disney Records introduced the Read-Along concept more than four decades ago – first on vinyl, followed by cassettes, then CD and now DVD. Since its launch in August 2002, DVD Read-Alongs such as Toy Story 2, Tarzan, The Little Mermaid, Lilo & Stitch and Beauty & the Beast have sold more than one million units worldwide. The Monsters, Inc. DVD Read-Along was the first title to be honored with a Grammy® nomination in the Best Spoken Word Album for Children category.
Buena Vista Home Entertainment will distribute nine titles as of February 2003, including the highly anticipated Treasure Planet, scheduled for release on February 25. The Lion King and Jungle Book, set for release on January 28th at the suggested retail price of $14.98 each, can be found at music, video and toy retailers, along with drug chains and grocery stores nationwide.
