NAPERVILLE, Ill., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — MindMyManor.com announced today the launch of an online marketplace that provides online estimates, scheduling, and auction bidding for Chicagoland homeowners and consumer-rated home services professionals. Just as consumers have flocked to the internet to purchase products online, MindMyManor.com offers a way for consumers to now purchase home services online as well.
“MindMyManor.com provides a single internet location for local homeowners and home services businesses to find each other and transact business online,” says Elizabeth Griffin, president of Mind My Manor and former CEO of a Naperville-based legal and business consulting firm. “This site was created with both the consumer and provider in mind. It gives the consumer an abundance of information that is useful in making an informed decision on who to hire. While at the same time, it gives a home services provider a targeted audience to whom to market its business. The site also reduces the transaction costs of a given project, in terms of time and money for both consumers and providers, since the screening, hiring, scheduling, and paying can all be done online, 24/7.”
MindMyManor.com presently contains over 10,000 local home services businesses which have been given courtesy listings on the site, identifying the businesses’ name, address, and service specialty. The free listing can be upgraded to a full profile, which is done online by the home services provider through a simple profile template. The profile template allows the provider to upload its business logo and photos and videos of its projects, designate its service coverage area and the service categories in which it specializes, and provide a narrative description of its business and services, a link to its website, and customer testimonials and ratings. The provider may also offer online estimates, scheduling, auction bidding, and payments.
When a homeowner has a home maintenance or repair need, MindMyManor.com is designed to allow the homeowner to select a provider and schedule a service call during a single visit to the site. After entering a zip code and describing the nature of the service desired, the homeowner can refine the search criteria to those providers who accept online payment, provide for online estimates, scheduling, and bidding, and have been rated by consumers, are insured, and whose employees have undergone criminal background checks. The search results are then returned in the order of the provider’s consumer rating, from the highest rated provider to the lowest. The homeowner may then review the profiles which meet the search criteria and either select the desired provider and schedule an estimate or service online, or invite several providers to bid on the project. The request is then transmitted from the homeowner’s email directly to the provider via email or text messaging, depending upon a provider’s preferred method of communication.
Although the home improvement market is projected to see a slight decline in 2008 due to the continual downturn in the housing market and a decrease in consumer spending, The Home Improvement Research Institute projects the long-term outlook for this market to remain strong, and estimates an average growth of +5.9% annually over the next 5 years, reaching $396 billion in 2013.
“The housing market has slowed so considerably over the past 18 months that homeowners are staying put and not moving. The result is that they’re putting more money into their existing homes to preserve their investment,” says Griffin. “MindMyManor.com provides them an efficient way to do this. By chronicling all of the homeowners’ past transactions on their account page, providing them with an online maintenance calendar advising when various services should be done, and making it simple to find and schedule the right provider, and get the best price the market will bear, a homeowner can be assured that their investment is protected at an affordable price.”
Mind My Manor is a trade name of CatCo Properties, LLC, an Illinois limited liability company which was formed in 2007, and which creates and manages internet website properties.
