“Barritas Fresa con Salvado allows Latinos to enjoy one of their favorite treats while still gaining some nutritional value,” said Camerlingo. “Many nutritionists say consumers can enjoy a moderate amount of sweets as long as they maintain a healthy diet and active lifestyle.”

The first Barritas cookie bar was created in 1964. Today there are five varieties including strawberry with bran, regular strawberry, pineapple, guava and apple cinnamon. All of the products have a uniquely Hispanic flavor because they are baked in Mexico and imported into the U.S.

“Marinela is part of the Latino community in the United States and we recognize health as an important issue,” said Joan Camerlingo, U.S. brand manager for Marinela. “By improving the nutritional value for one of our most popular products, we are sending a message to Latinos that we take their needs seriously,”

Barritas Fresa con Salvado are now available wherever Marinela products are sold.
