Over 5,000 New Scholarships Available for Low-Income Children to Attend the School of Their Choice

Step Up For Students launches radio campaign to create scholarship awareness

WHAT:

It’s not too late to apply for one of the 5,000+ new Step Up For Students Scholarships for the 2007-2008 school year. One size does not fit all, which is why Step Up For Students Scholarships empower low-income parents to choose the best school for their child, regardless of race or income.

Step Up For Students Scholarships, can be used at over 900 private schools throughout Florida, and have provided low-income families with educational options for over five years. The Corporate Tax Credit program – also known as “Step Up For Students Scholarships” – provides grades K-12 scholarships that allow approximately 17,000 low-income Florida students to attend a private school, or out-of-district public school of their choice. If families meet certain income guidelines, the children may be eligible for a scholarship worth up to $3,750 for a private school, or $500 to cover the transportation costs of attending an out-of-district public school.

WHO:

The scholarships are available for low-income students who are entering Kindergarten, (5 years old), or first grade, or have spent the 2006-2007 school year in a Florida public school and meet the household income guidelines.

Household income eligibility guidelines are the following:

Two people: $25,327

Three people: $31,765

Four people: $38,203

Add $6,438 for each additional person in household.

Scholarships are awarded on a first approved, first awarded basis. Don’t delay – apply today.
