Hispanic Executive to Oversee More than 13,000 Restaurants Nationwide


Oak Brook, IL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–August 2, 2004–McDonald’s Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer, Charlie Bell, has named Ralph Alvarez to the role of President for McDonald’s U.S.A. Alvarez becomes the highest-ranking Hispanic at McDonald’s.

Alvarez will have responsibility for over 13,000 restaurants in the United States and will report to Mike Roberts, Chief Executive Officer for McDonald’s U.S.A. In addition, Alvarez will oversee finance and strategic planning functions for the company. Most recently, Alvarez served as Chief Operations Officer for McDonald’s USA.

“As Chief Operations Officer, Ralph has been instrumental in driving the U.S. business results, “ said Mike Roberts, who had recently been promoted from the position of President of McDonald’s USA. “He is the perfect person to continue improving our restaurant operations.”

Alvarez is a veteran of the quick-service restaurant industry and joined McDonald’s in 1994 as a regional vice president for the Sacramento Region. He has also served as a regional director for McDonald’s partner brand, Chipotle Mexican Grill, and worked internationally as president of McDonald’s Mexico. Alvarez also served as president of McDonald’s U.S.A.’s Central Division – with responsibility for nearly 4,300 restaurants. Most recently as COO, Alvarez was responsible for operations of all McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S.
