SPRINGFIELD, NJ–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–April 30, 2003–The New Jersey Organ and Tissue Sharing Network (The Sharing Network) recently announced the addition of Carlos Mercado to their public affairs department as a Community Relations Manager of Hispanic Affairs.

In his new position, Mercado’s key duties will focus on culturally sensitive outreach initiatives strategically developed and geared toward the Latino community. His addition to The Sharing Network public education staff signifies the organization’s continued growth and ongoing commitment to enhance public awareness efforts regarding organ and tissue donation and transplantation in all communities.

Although Mercado is new to the field of organ donation, his previous experience in substance abuse prevention and education services, fundraising, professional training and development in community based organizations throughout the state will prove to be an asset in helping The Sharing Network fulfill its mission.

Mercado, a native of Brooklyn, New York, now resides in Holmdel, New Jersey. He enjoys music, swimming and basketball for which he received a college scholarship and went on to play professionally for a time at the international level.

The Sharing Network is the non-profit, federally designated, state-certified recovery agency responsible for providing organs and tissue for New Jersey residents in need of transplantation, as well as those on waiting lists nationwide. The organization recently received full, unconditional re-accreditation by the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations.
