Miami, FL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–July 20, 2005–Miller Brewing Company will recognize the top performers in the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup with the Miller Lite Player of the Match Award at each of the tournament’s games. When voting, the media will be asked to identify the player that makes the largest contribution to his teams’ overall success – providing unforgettable plays and priceless tournament memories to the thousands of passionate fans in attendance. The winning player will be announced and presented the Miller Liter Player of the Match trophy during the post-game news conference.

Selection of the top players throughout all the matches will culminate with the presentation of the Miller Lite Tournament MVP to the best overall player, as selected by CONCACAF, after the final match on July 24th“As the official beer sponsor of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Miller Lite made a promise to deliver “Más Sabor y Más Futbol” to the fans, teams and everyone involved in the tournament,” said Luis Altuve, Multicultural Marketing Director at Miller Brewing Company. “The Miller Lite Player of the Match Award is our way of recognizing the very best in the sport with an appropriate toast from an award-winning beer like Miller Lite.”

The first CONCACAF Gold Cup game will be Colombia vs. Panama at 7 p.m. (EST) on July 6th in Miami, Florida at the Orange Bowl.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is soccer’s championship of North and Central America, and the Caribbean and a prelude to the World Cup. The tournament will feature perennial powerhouse teams from the region including returning champion Mexico, as well as the United States, Canada, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, Cuba and Jamaica.
