SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ —

WHO:

Moen Incorporated, the #1 faucet brand in North America, and Mission Housing Development Corporation (MHDC) a leading nonprofit organization in San Francisco, join forces through a national program entitled “Alcanzando Suenos con Moen / Achieving your Dreams with Moen,” designed to promote and support affordable and environmentally sensitive housing for Hispanic families. MHDC, a community based organization, creates and preserves high-quality affordable housing for residents of low and moderate incomes in the Mission District and San Francisco.

WHAT:

Through this partnership, Moen will align with San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee’s Green Retrofit Initiative (GRI) by donating water–saving kitchen and bathroom fixtures for 207 MHDC units in 2011.  The Abel Gonzalez Apartments will receive 90 fixtures and the Esperanza Apartments will receive 117. In 2012, Moen will donate 208 fixtures for the Betel Apartments.

The GRI provides grant and loan funds to improve the energy and water efficiency of San Francisco’s multifamily affordable housing stock. Utilizing federal stimulus funds from the Department of Energy coupled with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and utility rebates and incentives, the GRI targets affordable multi-family housing that needs physical improvements and provides technical support to encourage a “whole-building” approach to the retrofit.

Please join MHDC President & CEO Larry Del Carlo and Moen at a ceremony to kick off their partnership, which will serve as a catalyst for the creation of affordable, sustainable and eco-friendly environments for Hispanic and other ethnic minorities in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In addition, Avni Jamdar, Director, Emerald Cities San Francisco and District 9 Supervisor David Campos, will also announce the MHDC Pilot Project: A Community Workforce Agreement for Energy Efficiency Retrofits.
