Glendale, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–September 18, 2007–In the spirit of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Hispanic Heritage Month, Nestlé made a $15,000 donation to PADRES Contra el Cáncer, a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families. The check presentation was held in front of more than 100,000 Hispanic families during one of the largest Fiestas Patrias celebrations in Los Angeles at Whittier Narrows Park in South El Monte, CA.

Nestlé also celebrated the importance of a healthy, active family lifestyle with its Más de Nestlé program designed to help motivate and engage children and parents in understanding how good nutrition and physical activity can be a fun and simple element of their daily routines. Latina fitness expert Gloria Araya-Quinlan was on hand to motivate and engage children and parents in understanding how good nutrition and physical activity can be a fun and simple element of their daily lifestyle with “motion sessions” and mini challenges.

Also, during the festival, three families participated in the Más de Nestlé Family in Motion Challenge by recording the number of steps taken throughout the day with pedometers, competing to accumulate steps and win six one-day tickets to Disneyland. The winning family walked 31,923 steps within two hours of the contest. The activity drove home the message that staying active as a family is as simple and fun as a walk in the park.
