Miami, FL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–July 22, 2003–Burger King Corporation announced today its sponsorship of the 4th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards. Burger King Corporation, as an exclusive sponsor, will provide hospitality and promotions for Latin Recording Academy national and local events that underscore its commitment to Hispanic communities.

“This is the type of partnership that Burger King Corporation seeks to create and aims to reinforce,” stated Russ Klein, Burger King Corporation’s chief marketing officer. “It illustrates the importance of the Hispanic culture in America, while recognizing and celebrating the significant contributions the Hispanic community has made. Furthermore, it allows us to make a long lasting impact where it matters most, in our youth and communities. We hope to continue making contributions that emphasize education and cultural heritage.”

The international fast food giant has formed a partnership with the Latin Recording Academy to produce various events ranging from grass-roots, consumer-oriented concerts for U.S. Hispanics and multi-cultural consumers to events designed to reach key figures within the Hispanic community. On a national level, the corporation will support a concert series that will showcase top-level performers. The Latin GRAMMY Concert Series will take place Thursday, Aug. 21 through Monday, Sept. 1 in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, Chicago, Dallas and Houston. Additionally, four block parties featuring cultural entertainment (ranging from Pablo Montero, Tri-O, Area 305 and Willie Chirino) for the distinct segments of the Hispanic community will be held in South Florida where the partnership will also present the Latin GRAMMY Nominee Announcement/Heroes Award to distinguished members of the local music and business community.

In addition to Burger King Corporation’s efforts to emphasize music celebration and supplementing this year’s Latin Music initiatives, various events will also highlight music education. Similar to the company’s Latin Music documentary and national school tour, the “e-Latin GRAMMY Carreras y Música” education initiative will reach out to high school students and educate them on the world of music from a creative, business and logistical standpoint. A panel of music industry experts will come together in a live and closed-circuit setting to share their knowledge and experiences with approximately 10,000 students across 26 school campuses in the U.S. and Latin America.

The BURGER KING® sponsored series of events and awards will culminate September 3 at the 4th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards airing on CBS, 9 ET/PT.
