MIAMI, Oct. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — On November 8, 2016 Amendment 1: Florida Solar Energy Subsidies and Personal Solar Use Initiative will appear on the general election ballot. This amendment will ensure that consumers have the right to own or lease solar equipment installed on their property and generate their own electricity. Like all other energy sources, solar energy has to play by the same consumer protection rules. State and local governments will maintain the ability to protect consumer rights and public health, safety, and welfare. They will also ensure that consumers who do not choose to install solar (electricity users) are not required to subsidize the costs of backup power and electric grid access to those who do.

The Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Honduran-American Chamber of Commerce, and the South Florida Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce strongly support Amendment 1. “Recent studies show how Florida is one of the states with the fastest growth of Hispanic owned businesses in the country,” said Julio Fuentes, President and CEO of the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “Currently 22% of businesses in the state are Hispanic owned.
