Mega TV Appoints Patricia Poleo to Senior Consultant for ‘Polos Opuestos’


Miami, FL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–October 3, 2006–Mega TV Channel 22 announced today the appointment of Venezuelan journalist, Patricia Poleo, to senior consultant for Mega TV’s primetime public affairs show “Polos Opuestos,” airing Monday through Friday at 8:00 p.m.

Renowned within Latin American journalism circles, Poleo will bring her journalistic expertise and experience to the “Polos Opuestos” team and provide content and insight on an array of different topics.

Patricia Poleo has always been a strong defender and supporter of the free press, and as editor of her father’s newspaper in Caracas, “El Nuevo Pais”, Poleo reported on the many abuses by Hugo Chávez, President of Venezuela.

She also made headlines when she investigated the “Vladimiro Montesino” case involving a Peruvian government official. This investigation awarded Ms. Poleo the coveted “Rey de España Journalism Award”, the highest honor given to a Latin American journalist. The National University José Faustino Sanchez of Huacho, Peru granted her an honorary doctorate (Honorius Causis) for this investigation.

Patricia Poleo left Venezuela as her articles continued to criticize the Chavez government. In retaliation, government officials in Caracas accused her of being the “intellectual assassin” of plotting the murder of District Attorney, Danilo Anderson. Patricia Poleo remains true to this day noting, “I am a journalist who will not be silenced,” she has said. She fled Venezuela in a raft last year arriving in Curacao, the Netherland Antilles after an arduous and dangerous 9-hour trip. She has in fact become the “first Venezuelan rafter” in history. She took flight to the United States and now resides in Miami.
