Cover Girl Signs Two Latina Models Simultaneously

Miss Universe 2003, Dominican Amelia Vega, and Mexican-born Beauty Elsa Benitez Become The First Latina Duo for Cover Girl Cosmetics


HUNT VALLEY, MD–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–December 9, 2003–Cover Girl Cosmetics recently announced the induction of two Latina models into the Cover Girl family – current Miss Universe, Amelia Vega, and celebrated model, Elsa Benitez. Both models will begin appearing in Cover Girl print and broadcast advertising in March 2004. Amelia and Elsa join Cover Girl’s exclusive roster of models that includes Molly Sims, Queen Latifah, Tasha Tilberg and Kiara.

Amelia Vega, a crowd favorite during the 2003 Miss Universe Competition, is a statuesque 19-year-old native of Santiago, Dominican Republic. Her incredible energy and vivacious nature won over the judges during the live NBC telecast held in Panama City, Panama. Amelia will work as a goodwill ambassador for women around the world by representing the Miss Universe Organization.

Elsa Benitez, a new mother to Mila and wife of former NBA player Rony Seikaly, got her modeling start after winning a model search in Costa Rica in 1995. Elsa has graced the covers top fashion magazines, including Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Mademoiselle, Harper’s Bazaa, and Marie Claire as well as the coveted cover of the 2001 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
