Scrubbing Bubbles(R) Action Scrubber survey reveals women’s dirty little shower secrets

Racine, WI–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – PR NEWSWIRE)–January 14, 2008–It wasn’t long ago that women scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed to get showers clean. According to a new Scrubbing Bubbles(R) Action Scrubber Survey(1) from SC Johnson, today many women would rather spend time paying bills (23 percent) or sitting in traffic (11 percent) than spend time and energy to attack their soap-scummy showers.

Something had to be done. Their cleaning regimen needed to be modernized. And now, with products like the new Scrubbing Bubbles(R) Action Scrubber, women can have sparkling clean showers and more time to do the things they love to do. It cuts through soap scum easier and faster by combining the deep cleaning action of Scrubbing Bubbles(R) cleaner with an easy-to-use handle, which reduces the need for excessive vigor when cleaning the tub and shower.

“As a busy mom, I understand the importance of a clean home, but Iike most women, I’m not willing to invest too much precious time or back-breaking effort to scrub the shower,” said Kelly Semrau, SC Johnson vice president of Global Public Affairs and Communication. “That’s why it’s important to look for cleaning solutions like Scrubbing Bubbles(R) products – they help you accomplish the maximum with a minimum of energy.”

Reclaim your elbows

With more than half of woman (54 percent) strongly agreeing that they use more elbow and arm strength than their significant other, it’s not surprising that they have strong feelings about the effort. The Scrubbing Bubbles(R) Action Scrubber Survey reveals what women really think:

— Three in four (75 percent) say they don’t mind using arm strength to get something clean, but they don’t like spending the time it takes to get it that way. Thirty percent would rather clean their bathroom with minimal effort, even if that means it isn’t really clean.

— Forty-three percent at least somewhat agree that using elbow strength to scrub the tub leaves them more sore than a typical workout.

— Most (80 percent) admit they dislike cleaning the shower and bathtub, but they seem to be unwilling to sacrifice cleanliness. More than half (58 percent) clean their shower/bathtub at least once a week, and more than one in ten (14 percent) do so at least once daily.

Shower confessions

The Scrubbing Bubbles(R) Action Scrubber Survey also reveals a few things women might not want you to know about their dirty shower activities.

— Among the 67 percent who typically engage in other activities while bathing, 64 percent daydream, 43 percent sing, 39 percent clean the shower or bathtub, 34 percent talk to themselves, 17 percent brush their teeth, 11 percent dance and 3 percent clean a pet.

— More than two in five (44 percent) admit to having peeked around the bathroom when visiting someone else’s home, most commonly looking inside the medicine cabinet or drawers (28 percent). About one in five (19 percent) admits to peeking behind the shower curtain.

— Among the 80 percent who dislike scrubbing the shower and bathtub, 34 percent can’t stand chapped hands and chipped nails, 38 percent dislike how often it needs cleaned, 17 percent are put off by dirty sponges, 23 percent don’t care for the muscle soreness it causes, and 20 percent simply feel like their shower is never really clean.

Scrubbing Bubbles(R) Action Scrubber can’t solve all these challenges but it will greatly minimize the arm and elbow strength necessary to get the job done.
