Qwest Named to Latin Business Magazine’s ‘Corporate Diversity Honor Roll 2007’ List

Leading Hispanic Publication Recognizes Qwest for Overall Quality of Its Diversity Program

Denver, CO–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–October 16, 2007–Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) has been recognized by Latin Business magazine, a national, bimonthly magazine that celebrates U.S. Latino entrepreneurs and professionals, in its fourth annual “Corporate Diversity Honor Roll.”

According to Latin Business, Qwest is among the top 16 companies that they surveyed that increasingly recognize the positive benefits of corporate diversity. The publication indicates that the criteria for inclusion on the “Corporate Diversity Honor Roll” go beyond minority retention and marketing initiatives and minority representation as a percentage of employees. Latin Business looks for companies that demonstrate a proactive approach to overall diversity, an above-average level of understanding of the importance of diversity, well-executed diversity initiatives and effective communication of diversity efforts.

“At Latin Business, we take much more into account than just the numbers when evaluating companies for inclusion on the ‘Corporate Diversity Honor Roll,'” said Dave Howard, managing editor of Latin Business magazine. “It is not simply a case of who has the most Hispanics or other minorities on the payroll – we look at the overall quality of a company’s diversity program.”

Qwest is committed to maintaining diversity in its workforce and attracting talented Hispanic employees. The company has a director of diversity committed to developing and executing its strategic diversity plan. It also offers excellent training, education and community volunteerism opportunities for Hispanic employees. The Qwest Hispanic employee resource group, called SOMOS, provides a unique cultural perspective to Qwest leadership on various business-related issues that are important to the Hispanic community. Qwest also appreciates the ability to provide significant business opportunities for diverse suppliers. In 2006, more than 12.3 percent of Qwest’s suppliers were minority-, woman- and disabled veteran-owned businesses (MWDVBE).

“Embracing diversity and creating a culture of inclusion makes Qwest a better company,” said Teresa Taylor, executive vice president and chief human resources officer at Qwest. “Diversity is fundamental to every aspect of our business and Qwest is very proud to be recognized for a fourth year on the Latin Business ‘Corporate Diversity Honor Roll.'”

The Qwest Foundation supports numerous Hispanic cultural organizations, and many Qwest leaders are members and chairs of Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. Qwest has also recently been named to Latina Style Magazine’s “Style 50” as one of the 50 Best Companies for Latinas to Work for in the U.S. (August 2007); listed on HISPANIC Magazine’s “Corporate 100” list of companies that contribute most to the Hispanic community (February 2007); named to HISPANIC Magazine’s list of the top 25 places for minorities to find opportunity for advancement (April 2006); and given the Martin Luther King, Jr. Business Social Responsibility Award (2007).

Throughout the company’s local-service region, Qwest provides the Espiritu de Servicio (Spirit of Service) to its Hispanic customers and has created several products tailored to the Hispanic market.
