MIAMI–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–April 14, 2004–Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency (LAORA) will recognize Jackson Memorial Hospital and honor organ donors and their families on April 15, 2004, during the Unsung Heroes Celebration and the Tree of Life Dedication Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at the Diagnostic Treatment Center, room 270, Jackson Memorial Hospital, 1611 N.W. 12 Avenue, Miami.
“This is our opportunity to acknowledge Jackson Memorial Hospital for demonstrating a high level of commitment to improving organ and tissue donation outcomes,” said David Levi, M.D., LAORA’s Medical Director. LAORA and its certified organ procurement coordinators will recognize JMH and its medical staff, specifically Critical Care, Operating Room, Trauma Resuscitation, Pediatric, and Social Services units. “The lives saved through transplantation would not be possible without the support of the Unsung Heroes of organ and tissue donation, hospital administration and medical staff,” said Dr. Levi. In 2003, there were 23 organ donors from Jackson Memorial Hospital who made possible for others to receive the gift of life.
JMH organ donors and their families will also be honored. A “Tree of Life,” a monument cast in bronze whose “leaves” are engraved with the names of organ donors, will be unveiled and dedicated in their memory. Donor families and transplant recipients will be present to extend their gratitude to the JMH staff.
