Santa Monica, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–August 29, 2007–The high speeds and thrills of the Red Bull Air Race World Series will touch down in San Diego on Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22, 2007. With 70 miles of stunning coastline and near-perfect weather, the Red Bull Air Race World Series will take place on San Diego’s Big Bay, nestled between the Coronado Bridge, Embarcadero Park, and the historic U.S.S. Midway Museum – home to the longest serving aircraft carrier in U.S. Navy history.

The Red Bull Air Race World Series is an international racing event stopping at 10 different locations throughout the world. The race features the world’s lightest, most agile and responsive planes navigating a course of “Air Gates” at 250 mph just 10-20 feet above the earth.

From The Ground to the Air!

Led by defending 2006 champion, American Kirby Chambliss and rising Latino Air Race pilot and motorsports star Alejandro Maclean – nicknamed the “Flying Matador” – the 2007 Red Bull Air Races will feature a new bracketed format based on two rounds of qualifying races. The new format will increase the race excitement and provide greater challenge for all the competing pilots. Milka Duno, Indy Racing League’s first Latina driver and one of the first female racers in international motorsports to blast the competition, is elated to be a part of the Red Bull Air Race in San Diego:

“I am very proud to experience this kind of racing in-person, and I am eager to see the world’s most talented pilots compete in the dynamic new discipline of air racing,” Duno stated. She will not only get to watch the race in San Diego, but will fly in a race plane before the race, adding to her already impressive motorsports resume. “I am also very happy to see so many Latinos, including our pilots and spectators, interested in this competitive ‘Motorsport in the Air’ competition. I see more and more Latinos racing, but also watching motorsports around the world including the Red Bull Air Race World Series.”

Smoke On!

On Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22 gates will open at 11:00 a.m., and the high speed excitement of the Red Bull Air Race World Series will begin. There will be opportunities to tour the paddock, view the spectacular planes and interact with the 13 highly skilled pilots. The official opening will start at 12:45 pm, fast flying action starts at 1:30 p.m. culminating in the new “knock out” finale at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
