‘República Deportiva’ Marks Its Fifth Anniversary with A ‘State Celebration’

Univision’s ‘Sports Republic’ draws an All-Star guest list


Miami, FL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–April 14, 2004–“República Deportiva” (“Sports Republic”), Univision’s number one sports/entertainment program, celebrates it fifth anniversary on April 25, 2004, at 11am ET/PT (10am Central/Mountain). Among the guests scheduled to join hosts Fernando Fiore and Rosana Franco and honorary co-host Sofia Vergara in the celebration are National Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Juan Marichal and live from Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field, New York Yankee’s shortstop Alex Rodriguez and Chicago Cubs’ right fielder Samy Sosa.

Since its debut on April 11, 1999, “República Deportiva” has aired 262 live programs on Sundays in addition to 2,000 nightly newsbreaks on Univision’s highly rated programs “Primer Impacto” (“First Impact”) and “Noticiero Univision” (“Univision Nightly Newscast”).

Set in a neighborhood “sports bar,” “República Deportiva” keeps viewers up to speed on all the latest sports developments and covers the most important international sporting events. And in addition to dishing out plenty of news and information, co-hosts Fernando and Rosana frequently welcome some of the world’s biggest Hispanic sports stars for one-on-one interviews.
