SBS Launches Major Emergency Response For Haiti

-Radio and Television Stations Urge Support for Haiti Response Effort - Plans 12 Hour Radiothon to Raise Funds and Necessities


MIAMI, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Spanish Broadcasting System (Nasdaq: SBSA) (“SBS”) announced today that all of its Miami-based radio stations along with Mega TV Channel 22 will launch a fundraising and donation drive to raise funds and help the many victims of the catastrophic earthquake that struck Haiti yesterday.

SBS radio will hold a 12 hour radiothon from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. this Friday at the Bird Bowling and Entertainment Center located at 92 Avenue and Bird Road and encourage listeners to donate funds as well as bring donations of water, canned food and basic necessities for children and adults. Mega TV will promote the radiothon and join in the event. All proceeds will be donated to the Catholic Church of Notre Dame D’Haïti for distribution to those in need.

The powerful 7 magnitude earthquake that devastated Haiti, the poorest country of the Americas, destroyed hundreds of buildings and homes in the capital and surrounding areas, including the Presidential Palace and the Cathedral.

With initial figures estimating thousands of victims and reports of a devastated population filled with pain, need and despair, SBS radio and Mega TV are calling on the local the community and their loyal base of listeners and viewers to support its effort and help those impacted by the earthquake.
