American Red Cross Delegate Assisting Red Cross Flood Relief Efforts

Washington, DC–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–November 6

An American Red Cross volunteer is available for media interviews in both Spanish and English from Villahermosa, Mexico. Winnie Romeril was sent to support flood relief efforts by the Mexican Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Winnie Romeril, an American Red Cross volunteer from upstate New York who has participated in disaster response efforts both domestically and abroad, has assisted with responses to the Southeast Asia tsunami, the Peru earthquake and Hurricanes Dean and Felix.

In addition to sending Romeril, the American Red Cross has provided $50,000 to the Mexican Red Cross and is weighing additional response options. The flooding, which has affected more than 800,000 people, resulted from unusually heavy rains that caused rivers to overflow their banks in the Mexican state of Tabasco, which was already waterlogged after Hurricanes Dean and Felix.
