Judging Panel for National Association of Hispanic Publications’ Annual José Martí Excellence Awards Announced

Washington DC.–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–February 15, 2007–A panel of distinguished individuals, experts in journalism, marketing and communications, has been selected to judge more than 700 entries for the Annual Jose Marti Publishing Awards, organized by the National Association of Hispanic Publications.

The awards have been sponsored by the NAHP for more than 20 years, but were renamed in 2006 to honor the legacy of the renowned journalist, Cuban hero, poet and statesman, Jose Marti.

The NAHP, a trade organization founded in 1982, represents the leading Hispanic newspapers and magazines in the country. Its awards program was developed to showcase the excellent editorial, writing, design and marketing demonstrated daily, weekly and monthly by Hispanic newspapers and magazines.

The judges were selected for their knowledge of journalism, design and marketing, and they are all leaders in their individual fields. The panel of judges includes: Christopher Campos, executive vice president of GlobalHue; José Bayona, assistant editor of Hora Hispana; Cristina Schwartz, partner in ParaVos Communication; Neil Porter, co-publisher of Médico de Familia; Nancy Ayala editor of Adweek’s Marketing y Medios; Carolina González, journalist and teacher at John Jay College of Criminal Justice; Michel Gomez, vice president of consumer relations for MasterCard International; Jorge Ulla, creative director of D Expósito and Partners; and Hugo Balta, news director for Telemundo 47.

The awards will be judged at GlobalHue’s New York headquarters on February 20th. Categories for the awards include: Overall Excellence, Writing, Best Overall Sections, Design & Layout, Cartoons, and Marketing.

The winners of the José Martí Excellence Awards will be announced at the Association’s 22nd annual conference which will be held in Phoenix from April 11-15, 2007. The location for the judging is sponsored by GlobalHue.
