Southeastern Consulting Group, LLC Announces New Associates; Samuel F. Morrison, Celiene Bruce and Josie Bacallao Named to Firm’s Roster


FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–Sept. 9, 2003–Southeastern Consulting Group, LLC has announced three distinguished associates who have joined the firm, Samuel F. Morrison, Celiene Bruce and Josie Bacallao. The diversified consultancy provides professional services to private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

— Samuel F. Morrison retired recently as director of the Broward County Library System where he had served since 1990. In 1995, he announced his vision of building a library housing black history materials in Fort Lauderdale. His idea became a reality with the opening of the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center which opened in October, 2002. Prior to serving as director of the Broward system, he served as the chief librarian for the City of Chicago where he was responsible for the planning, design and initial construction of the Harold Washington Library Center, the largest municipal library in the United States. He serves on a number of local, regional and national boards including the Gold Coast Jazz Society, Broward Pubic Library Foundation, Southeast Florida Library Information Network, National Conference for Community and Justice, Florida Memorial College and others. A member of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators, he became the first recipient of the Dr. Mack King Carter Community Revitalization Summit Humanitarian Award. Morrison completed his undergraduate work at California State University and his Master’s Degree at the University of Illinois. He is also a graduate of the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.

— Celiene Bruce has had a series of progressively responsible positions with Broward County for the past twenty-eight years. She most recently served as Deputy Director of the Broward County Aviation Department. In that capacity, she managed the administration, business, finance, information systems and internal audit of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and North Perry Airport. Prior to that position, she was Assistant County Administrator of Broward County where she was responsible for coordination of day-to-day management activities for the county. She has also served as Interim County Administrator. Other positions include serving as assistant to the Governor of Iowa, writing and editing for newspapers and the Associated Press.

She graduated from St. Lawrence University and holds a Master’s Degree in Communications from Syracuse University.

— Josie Bacallao is a marketing and publishing executive with 25 years of experience. Prior to her association with Southeastern Consulting Group, LLC, in 2003, she was Vice President/Marketing Director for the Sun-Sentinel, a Tribune Company and Vice President/Marketing for The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald.

As the Chief Marketing Officer, Josie had created and executed multi-media marketing campaigns in both English and Spanish. Josie has hands-on experience and led efforts in Branding, including creative campaign development and execution, Database Marketing, Sports Marketing, Research, Interactive Marketing, Event Marketing and Community Affairs. She also has directed and managed numerous advertising agencies of record and is a seasoned Project Manager On the community front, Josie led the conception and launch of the Sun-Sentinel Diversity Venture Fund which has given $938,000 in venture grants to non profits.

She currently chairs the board of the Board Public Library Foundation and is a trustee of Holy Cross Hospital, Hispanic Unity of Florida, and NCCJ (National Conference of Community and Justice).

She graduated from Florida International University and was a Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management Institute for Journalism Fellow.
