La Ley 107.9 in Chicago joins in helping Mexican city to recover from ‘Mexico’s Katrina’

Miami, FL–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–November 19, 2007–Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) (NASDAQ: SBSA) and Chicago’s La Ley 107.9 FM announced that their charity collection to help those effected by the severe flooding caused by Hurricane Noel in Tabasco, Mexico was a huge success. The weeklong campaign, which began on November 7 and was initiated by La Ley’s Jesus “El Peladillo” Garcia, generated thousands of dollars worth of donated clothing, water, non-perishable food items, medication and cash proceeds for the victims of what is being called “Mexico’s Katrina.”

“El Peladillo” is on the air Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM EST to 10:00 AM EST on La Ley’s morning show.

When “El Peladillo” first announced his intentions to begin this campaign on the air on November 5th, the phones immediately began ringing with people who were all looking to help in whatever way they could.

The staff of La Ley arranged and gathered at two different donation centers in Joliet and Elgin in order to receive donations from loyal listeners who were uniting together to get aid to those in need in Tabasco. After gathering the donations, Garcia and his staff have been personally delivering the items and funds raised to the victims and relief organizations in Tabasco.

“La Ley is proud to support ‘El Peladillo’ in his efforts to provide relief and comfort to the victims of this terrible natural disaster,” said Terrence Hardin, Vice-President and General Manager of La Ley in Chicago. “During times like these, it is important for us to use our reach into the Hispanic Community in order to mobilize residents to support Hispanics in need no matter where they are. We are confident that these efforts will truly make a difference in the rebuilding process.”

Do not miss Jesus “El Peladillo” Garcia every Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM EST on Chicago’s La Ley 107.9 morning show – a Spanish Broadcasting System radio station.
