MIAMI BEACH, Fla.–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 19, 2003–Sterling Financial Group of Companies, (Sterling Financial), the Miami-Beach based financial services holding company founded just six years ago, has been identified for the second year in a row by Hispanic Business magazine in their current issue (available at newsstands in August) as one of the nation’s top 10 fastest growing Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States.
In 2002, according to Hispanic Business magazine, Sterling Financial was the number one fastest growing Hispanic owned business in the country. This year, the firm earns the honor of returning to the list by being ranked number 7. No other company from last year who placed in the top 10 has returned to earn a slot in this year’s top 10 position. Sterling Financial is the only Florida firm to be in the top 10; and according to the Hispanic Business list, it is the only company in the “financial services” category to make the entire top 100 list. The rankings are computed by Hispanic Business magazine by comparing the average sales growth over a five year period, from 1998 – 2002.
“Our efforts, our energy, our focus and our hard work have paid off,” says Alexis Korybut, President of Sterling Financial Group of Companies. “In a tough economy, in an industry that has been plagued by numerous challenges we continue to grow by doing outstanding work for our clients,” adds Korybut.
The financial services conglomerate provides proprietary research, institutional brokerage, wealth management and investment banking services complemented by a proven distribution platform in the traditional U.S. market and a leader in the Hispanic market and select Latin American markets.
In the past three years Sterling Financial has exploded into the financial services industry by growing from a 3-person firm when first founded in 1997 to a global financial services organization with more than 50 offices in 7 countries. This explosive growth has been recognized by both the business and the financial services industry. In 2002, Sterling was named by Inc. magazine in their annual “Top 500” survey as the number 8 fastest growing privately held company in the nation.
And, two years in a row, in 2000 and 2001 Sterling Financial was named the number one fastest growing company in the State of Florida in an annual ranking of private business in the State by the University of Florida’s Fisher School of Accounting.
Sterling Financial was founded in 1997 by Charles Patrick Garcia, Chairman and CEO of Sterling Financial. In recent years Mr. Garcia has emerged not only one of the nation’s leading business entrepreneurs, but also as a national policy maker in education. Garcia, 42, has been appointed to high profile education posts for President George Bush and Florida Governor, Jeb Bush. Mr. Garcia has been named as one of the “top 100 most influential Hispanics in the United States” by Hispanic Business magazine.
