MINNEAPOLIS–(HISPANIC PR WIRE – BUSINESS WIRE)–April 9, 2003–U.S. Bank has expanded its Hispanic offering at usbank.com by making more important information available in Spanish at usbank.com/espanol. The enhancements, which include Spanish-language pages on loans, lines of credit and credit card products, were implemented on April 2 and complement the information that has been available in Spanish since the Spanish language site launched in October 2002.

“Our goal is to ensure that we are providing access to financial services however people seek out information, whether in person, through our 24-hour customer service, in brochures or via the Internet,” said Alice Perez, U.S. Bank Hispanic market leader.

The U.S. Bank branch locator is among the highlights of the Spanish-language Web site, which is located on the usbank.com/espanol welcome page. Visitors can find driving directions to the nearest U.S. Bank branch written in Spanish and the nearest branch with a Spanish-speaking employee. Other site features include information about checking and savings accounts, debit cards and certificates of deposit at U.S. Bank.

“By offering customers an Internet branch locator with driving directions in Spanish that also shows where they can do their business in Spanish, we are living up to our commitment to not only meet but exceed our customers’ expectations,” Perez said.

U.S. Bank has made a focused effort to reach the Hispanic consumer for the past two years, and was among the first in the nation to make advances that directly benefit the Hispanic consumer. For example in November 2001, U.S. Bank was one of the first financial institutions in America to accept the Matricula Consular ID issued by the Mexican Consulate as a form of identification when opening an account. Similarly, U.S. Bank partners with national Hispanic organizations to provide products and services that are important to Hispanic consumers and businesses. As well, many U.S. Bank locations have bilingual signage, brochures and other material to make the banking experience more inviting to customers who prefer to do business in Spanish.

Upcoming enhancements to usbank.com/espanol will include pages for small business customers as well as mortgage information. Other enhancements will also include financial literacy and educational tools, for example, an interactive site that assists new checking customers understand how to manage their account and how to write checks.
