WellPoint Donates $50,000 to The Lagrant Foundation

Los Angeles, CA–(HISPANIC PR WIRE)–January 19, 2007–WellPoint, Inc., the nation’s largest health benefits company donates $50,000 in a cash contribution to THE LAGRANT FOUNDATION (TLF). WellPoint’s contribution will help aid minority undergraduate and graduate students majoring in advertising, marketing and public relations.

“At WellPoint, we strive to be a reflection of the members we serve and the communities in which we live and work,” said Vice President of Diversity and Workforce Development at WellPoint, David Casey. “THE LAGRANT FOUNDATION shares our commitment to diversity, and we are proud to support their continued efforts with our donation.”

Each year, TLF provides $100,000 in scholarships to minority students throughout the nation. Ten undergraduate students will receive a $5,000 scholarship and five graduate students will receive a $10,000 scholarship.

Throughout the year, TLF coordinates career development workshops for students. The workshops give students the opportunity to interact with industry professionals.

“We are very thankful to WellPoint for giving such a generous contribution,” said Founder/Chairman of TLF, Mr. Kim L. Hunter. “Students will benefit greatly from this donation, and we look forward to working with WellPoint in the future.”

TLF also provides internships to students at selected advertising, marketing and public relations agencies, as well as publishing companies and communications-related businesses. The internships provide the students with hands-on experience as they are preparing for their careers.
