International home purchases decreased 7.9% in the U.S. compared to last year&#8217;s report.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> remains one of the most desirable destinations for people looking to purchase a home in <span class=\"xn-location\">the United States<\/span>,&#8221; said <span class=\"xn-person\">Russell Berry<\/span>, chairman of Texas Realtors. &#8220;The region of origin for homebuyers choosing <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> had a noticeable swing this reporting period. Historically, the largest number of homebuyers purchasing in <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> from outside of <span class=\"xn-location\">the United States<\/span> are from the <span class=\"xn-location\">Latin America<\/span> and <span class=\"xn-location\">Caribbean<\/span> region. While that is still true, European homebuyers nearly closed the gap this past year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Thirty-one percent of international homebuyers in <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> came from the <span class=\"xn-location\">Latin America<\/span>\/<span class=\"xn-location\">Caribbean<\/span> region, and 27% originated from <span class=\"xn-location\">Europe<\/span>. <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> was the top destination for international homebuyers from <span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span>. Of all homebuyers from <span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span> purchasing a home in the U.S., 22% bought a home in <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span>. Among buyers from <span class=\"xn-location\">Columbia<\/span>, 11% chose <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>On the commercial real estate side, <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> was second only to <span class=\"xn-location\">Florida<\/span> for the most popular U.S. state for international buyers who work with Realtors, according to the 2022 <i>Commercial Real Estate International Business Trends<\/i> report from the National Association of Realtors.<\/p>\n<p>Berry concluded, &#8220;International buyers of U.S. real estate have proven to be an important aspect of our <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> market.
