Once verified, the adopter will receive a welcome email with detailed information on how to participate in the program.<\/li>\n<li>Registered adopters can read letters at <a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=3716354-1&amp;h=934866627&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.uspsoperationsanta.com%2F&amp;a=USPSOperationSanta.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><i>USPSOperationSanta.com<\/i><\/a> and choose one to fulfill. Once a letter is chosen, adopters must follow the directions they received in their welcome email to ship gifts.<\/li>\n<li>Packages must be shipped via Priority Mail service, but gifts do not need to be in Priority Mail- branded boxes.<\/li>\n<li>The last day to adopt letters is <span class=\"xn-chron\">Dec. 19<\/span>, which coincides with the Priority Mail suggested deadline.<\/li>\n<li><b>Letter adopters are<\/b> <b>responsible for postage fees<\/b> <b>to ship the gift packages.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Tips for reducing shipping costs<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Postage to ship gifts is based on size, weight and distance. Smaller, lighter packages shipped in-state or to an adjacent state will be the less expensive shipping option. Here are some tips:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Use Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes, free at your local Post Office. Take a box when shopping and only purchase items that can fit in the box.<\/li>\n<li>Adopt a letter from your state, or a nearby state.<\/li>\n<li>Look at the dimensions of the gift very carefully, paying special attention to size and weight<\/li>\n<li>Consider a gift card instead of purchasing larger, heavier items. Gift cards need to be sent in a Priority Mail envelope, 4-by-6 or larger, to accommodate the shipping label.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Information for letter writers<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Letters must include a first and last name and a clear, legible, complete return address, including apartment number, if applicable.<\/li>\n<li>Envelopes must contain a First-Class Mail Forever stamp \u2014 or other First-Class Mail stamps that equal <span class=\"xn-money\">60-cents<\/span> in postage.
