The Home Depot<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, the world&#8217;s largest home improvement retailer, today reported sales of <span class=\"xn-money\">$37.3 billion<\/span> for the first quarter of fiscal 2023, a decrease of 4.2% from the first quarter of fiscal 2022. Comparable sales for the first quarter of fiscal 2023 decreased 4.5%, and comparable sales in the U.S. decreased 4.6%.<\/p>\n<div id=\"prni_dvprnejpgf0b8left\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"width: 100%; text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"prnejpgf0b8left\" style=\"width: 400px; height: 400px;\" title=\"The Home Depot logo.\" src=\"https:\/\/mma.prnewswire.com\/media\/118058\/the_home_depot_logo.jpg\" alt=\"The Home Depot logo.\" align=\"middle\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Net earnings for the first quarter of fiscal 2023 were <span class=\"xn-money\">$3.9 billion<\/span>, or <span class=\"xn-money\">$3.82<\/span> per diluted share, compared with net earnings of <span class=\"xn-money\">$4.2 billion<\/span>, or <span class=\"xn-money\">$4.09<\/span> per diluted share, in the same period of fiscal 2022.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After a three-year period of unprecedented growth for our sector, during which we grew sales by over <span class=\"xn-money\">$47 billion<\/span>, we expected that fiscal 2023 would be a year of moderation for the home improvement market.
