In that lawsuit, plaintiffs\u00a0allege that\u00a0Google collected\u00a0and\u00a0stored\u00a0their location information\u00a0without\u00a0their consent\u00a0while Location History\u00a0was\u00a0disabled.\u00a0Google denies\u00a0all\u00a0the legal\u00a0claims\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0lawsuit,\u00a0and\u00a0by\u00a0agreeing\u00a0to\u00a0the Settlement\u00a0does\u00a0not\u00a0admit\u00a0to\u00a0any\u00a0wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p><b><u>You are included in this Settlement, and your rights may be affected by this Settlement, if you are a Settlement Class Member, which is defined as &#8220;All natural persons residing in <span class=\"xn-location\">the United States<\/span> who used one or more mobile devices and whose location information was stored by Google while &#8216;Location History&#8217; was disabled at any time during the Class Period (<span class=\"xn-chron\">January 1, 2014<\/span> through <span class=\"xn-chron\">December 4, 2023<\/span>).&#8221;<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>No\u00a0money\u00a0will be\u00a0paid directly\u00a0to\u00a0Settlement Class\u00a0Members.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Under\u00a0the Settlement,\u00a0Google will\u00a0pay\u00a0$62\u00a0million\u00a0into\u00a0a Settlement\u00a0Fund\u00a0that\u00a0will\u00a0be used\u00a0to\u00a0fund\u00a0payments to\u00a0one or more independent\u00a0non-profit\u00a0501(c)(3) organizations with a track record of addressing privacy concerns on the internet (either directly or through grants), as well as an award of reasonable attorneys&#8217; fees and costs, service awards for class representatives, notice and administration costs related to the Settlement, and taxes. Google also will revise certain practices and disclosures related to the collection of Location Information.<\/p>\n<p><b>What are my options?<br \/><\/b><\/p>\n<p>If you are a Settlement Class Member, your legal rights will be affected regardless of whether you do or do not act. Your options include:<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Do nothing<\/u><\/b> \u2013 If you do nothing, you will give up the right to sue, continue to sue, or be part of another lawsuit against Google related to the legal claims resolved by this Settlement.<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Exclude Yourself from the Settlement<\/u><\/b>\u00a0&#8211; You can choose to request exclusion from the Settlement by <span class=\"xn-chron\">March 4, 2024<\/span>. This option allows you to sue, continue to sue, or be part of another lawsuit against Google related to the legal claims resolved by this Settlement.<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Object to the Settlement and\/or Attend a Hearing<\/u><\/b>\u00a0&#8211; If you do not exclude yourself from the Settlement, you may object to it by writing to the Court about why you don&#8217;t like the Settlement, by <span class=\"xn-chron\">March 4, 2024<\/span>. You may object to the Settlement and ask the Court for permission to speak at the Final Approval Hearing about your objection.<\/p>\n<p><b>Final Hearing<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Court in charge of this consolidated lawsuit has preliminarily approved the Settlement and will hold a hearing to make a final decision whether to approve it, on <span class=\"xn-chron\">April 18, 2024<\/span> at <span class=\"xn-location\">San Jose<\/span> Courthouse, Courtroom 4\u20145th Floor, 280 South 1st Street, <span class=\"xn-location\">San Jose, CA<\/span> 95113 at <span class=\"xn-chron\">9 a.m.<\/span> The date or time of the Final Approval Hearing may change.
