OAKLAND, Calif.<\/span>, Sept. 24, 2026<\/span> \/PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE\/ — The Robert C. Maynard Institute for Journalism Education<\/a> will conduct the Propel Regional Training for editors and managers in Burbank, Calif., on Oct. 22-24.<\/p>\n

The Propel Regional Training<\/b><\/a>\u00a0is a tuition-free program <\/b>that brings two-and-a-half days of editing and management training, coaching and community-building to journalists of all backgrounds working across California’s diverse media outlets and platforms. Working in partnership with California State University, Northridge (CSUN)<\/a>\u00a0and The Tom and Ethel Bradley Center<\/a>, these sessions will provide journalists the tools they need amid the complexities of news leadership.<\/p>\n

The training is\u00a0for frontline, mid-career and student editors and managers <\/b>working in any platform, (print, broadcast, digital and audio). This training will be facilitated in English.<\/p>\n

Faculty and panelists include award-winning editors, news leaders, professors and\u00a0Maynard leaders of Latino, African American, AAPI , LGBTQIA+ and other diverse backgrounds<\/b>.<\/b> They will provide hands-on workshops and customized coaching to help news leaders effectively manage teams, news coverage, and build resilience.<\/p>\n

Two meals will be provided each day, with limited discounted hotel rooms and needs-based travel assistance.<\/p>\n
