LONDON<\/span>, Oct. 29, 2026<\/span> \/PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE\/ — The first solo exhibition in London of Venezuelan kinetic artist Jes\u00fas Rafael Soto\u00a0attracted a record 18,300 visitors during the prestigious Serpentine Galleries summer Art in the<\/i>\u00a0Park <\/i>programme. Initiated by Melanie Nenning Herrera, founder of art consultancy ORBE\u00a0Consultants, and sponsored by Britannia Financial Group, the exhibition gave the public an\u00a0opportunity to experience P\u00e9n\u00e9trable BBL Jaune<\/i>, one of the artist’s most emblematic works, reports MP Publishing.<\/p>\n \n During the closing cocktail reception, attended by distinguished guests from the worlds of art,\u00a0culture and finance, Serpentine Artistic Director Hans Ulrich Obrist described the installation as\u00a0 one of the most successful public sculptures in the institution’s history.<\/p>\n “The numbers are extraordinary. On some days, we welcomed as many as 4,000 visitors,” he said.\u00a0“It has been deeply moving to see so many children interacting with the work. Many of them may\u00a0remember this as their first encounter with art.”<\/p>\n The landmark exhibition originated from a meeting between Obrist and the founder of ORBE, arranged by\u00a0gallerist Emmanuel Perrotin. During a conversation about Soto’s international career,\u00a0Melanie Nenning Herrera pointed out that the artist had never had a solo exhibition in the United\u00a0Kingdom. The observation sparked the interest of Obrist, who had personally known Soto.<\/p>\n At the closing event, Melanie\u00a0Nenning Herrera recalled that Soto never intended his work to be\u00a0merely observed.<\/p>\n “The master wanted us to become part of his art, to touch it, to step inside his work, and that is\u00a0 exactly what has happened here. We are honouring his legacy, and we are immensely proud to\u00a0 have helped make this possible at one of the world’s most important cultural institutions,” she said.<\/p>\n The recently closed installation features 4,000 yellow vinyl strands suspended from\u00a0a ten-metre-long steel structure. Its presentation in London was made possible through the\u00a0 coordinated efforts of ORBE Consultants, Serpentine Galleries, Perrotin Gallery and Atelier Jes\u00fas Soto in Paris, with sponsorship from Britannia Financial Group.<\/p>\n P\u00e9n\u00e9trable BBL Jaune <\/i>belongs to a series of more than 70 sculptures created by the artist in this\u00a0distinctive style. Born in Venezuela, Jes\u00fas Rafael Soto built an international career from Paris and\u00a0 became one of the defining figures of twentieth-century kinetic art. His investigations into optical\u00a0vibration, movement and space transformed the relationship between the artwork and its audience.<\/p>\n An Experience for New Generations <\/b><\/p>\n A collection of colouring books, pencil cases and other products designed to introduce children to the artist’s visual language was another major initiative presented as part of the exhibition.<\/p>\n “This is the first time we have done something like this, and the result could not have been better,”\u00a0said Adriana Guti\u00e9rrez, Director of Atelier Jes\u00fas Soto in Paris. “We are extremely happy and\u00a0 grateful.”<\/p>\n Although no official announcement has been made, the organisers have not ruled out the possibility of another exhibition dedicated to the artist.<\/p>\n “I would like to think this is just a preview of what is to come.
