Heralded worldwide for performing sacred Afro-Cuban songs and dance rooted in West African traditions, Yoruba Andabo is confirmed to perform at the <b>Hayti Heritage Center<\/b> in <span class=\"xn-location\">Durham, NC<\/span> on <span class=\"xn-chron\">November 4<\/span>; the <b>Lisner Auditorium<\/b> at <span class=\"xn-org\">George Washington University<\/span> in WDC on <span class=\"xn-chron\">November 6<\/span>; <b>S.O.B.s<\/b> in NYC on <span class=\"xn-chron\">November 8<\/span>; and <b>Symphony Space<\/b> in NYC on <span class=\"xn-chron\">November 9<\/span>. Though the group has performed in <span class=\"xn-location\">New York<\/span> previously, most recently to a sold out show at <b>Carnegie Hall<\/b> in 2012, this will be their first time performing in <span class=\"xn-location\">Washington, DC<\/span> and <span class=\"xn-location\">Durham<\/span>. The group will also conduct master classes in <span class=\"xn-location\">Washington, DC<\/span> on <span class=\"xn-chron\">November 5<\/span> and on <span class=\"xn-chron\">November 7<\/span> in <span class=\"xn-location\">Brooklyn, New York<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><b>ABOUT YORUBA ANDABO<br \/><\/b>Yoruba Andabo is an Afro-Cuban band of 17 singers, percussionists, and dancers who are known for preserving sacred West African music that was bought to <span class=\"xn-location\">Cuba<\/span> by enslaved Africans in the late 16<sup>th<\/sup> century. The ensemble takes its name from two African words loosely translated as &#8220;the friends and followers of the Yoruba lands and culture.&#8221; Yorubaland covers much of what is known as <span class=\"xn-location\">Nigeria<\/span> and <span class=\"xn-location\">Benin<\/span> today.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to performing Yoruba-rooted music, Yoruba Andabo is widely acclaimed as one of the leading rumba groups on the world music scene today.
