{"id":45789,"date":"2016-05-23T16:05:00","date_gmt":"2016-05-23T02:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hispanicprwire.com\/hinchcliffe-honda-claim-indy-500-pole\/"},"modified":"2016-05-23T16:08:02","modified_gmt":"2016-05-23T20:08:02","slug":"hinchcliffe-y-honda-obtienen-la-primera-posicion-de-salida-en-la-indy-500","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hispanicprwire.com\/en\/hinchcliffe-y-honda-obtienen-la-primera-posicion-de-salida-en-la-indy-500\/","title":{"rendered":"Hinchcliffe, Honda Claim Indy 500 Pole"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<style type=\"text\/css\"><![CDATA[\n\/* Style Definitions *\/\nspan.prnews_span\n{\nfont-size:8pt;\nfont-family:\"Arial\";\ncolor:black;\n}\na.prnews_a\n{\ncolor:blue;\n}\nli.prnews_li\n{\nfont-size:8pt;\nfont-family:\"Arial\";\ncolor:black;\n}\np.prnews_p\n{\nfont-size:0.62em;\nfont-family:\"Arial\";\ncolor:black;\nmargin:0in;\n}\n]]><\/style>\n<div class=\"xn-content\">\n<p><span class=\"xn-location\">INDIANAPOLIS<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-chron\">May 22, 2016<\/span> \/PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE\/ &#8212; After a thrilling final-hour performance on Saturday, <span class=\"xn-person\">James Hinchcliffe<\/span> again delivered when it mattered the most, claiming the pole Sunday for next weekend&#8217;s <span class=\"xn-location\">Indianapolis<\/span> 500, edging <span class=\"xn-person\">Josef Newgarden<\/span> and fellow Honda driver <span class=\"xn-person\">Ryan Hunter-Reay<\/span> by the narrowest of margins in the final qualifying run of the day.\u00a0 It is Hinchcliffe&#8217;s first &#8220;500&#8221; pole, and the ninth for Honda at the historic Brickyard.<\/p>\n<div id=\"prni_dvprnejpg2b00left\" style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: left; WIDTH: 100%\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"prnejpg2b00left\" title=\"370635 \" border=\"0\" alt=\"370635 \" align=\"middle\" src=\"http:\/\/photos.prnewswire.com\/prnvar\/20160522\/370635 \"\/><\/div>\n<p>Hinchcliffe&#8217;s run of nearly 231 mph on Saturday secured first-round qualifying honors, and meant he would be the last of five Honda drivers vying or the pole during today&#8217;s &#8220;Fast Nine&#8221; shootout.\u00a0 The fourth driver to make a run, Newgarden posted a four-lap average of 230.700 mph that moved him to the top of the speed chart.\u00a0 After both Helio Castroneves and Will Power came up sort, the next-to-last qualifier, Hunter-Reay came close to toppling him, but ended his four-lap run fractionally slower, at 230.648 mph.<\/p>\n<p>That left Hinchcliffe as the final driver to qualify, and just over a year after a practice-session crash resulted in life-threatening injuries, &#8220;Hinch&#8221; produced a four-lap average speed of 230.760 mph around the 2.5-mile <span class=\"xn-location\">Indianapolis<\/span> oval to claim the pole for himself, his Schmidt Peterson Motorsports team, and Honda.\u00a0 It was Hinchcliffe&#8217;s first <span class=\"xn-location\">Indianapolis<\/span> 500 pole, after qualifying second in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Behind Hinchcliffe and Hunter-Reay, Andretti Autosport drivers Townsend Bell and <span class=\"xn-person\">Carlos Munoz<\/span> claimed the fourth and fifth positions, respectively, and Hinchcliffe&#8217;s teammate, <span class=\"xn-person\">Mikhail Aleshin<\/span>, will start seventh.\u00a0 Honda drivers also dominated today&#8217;s second-round qualifying \u2013 for starting positions 10-33 \u2013 with Oriol Servia, <span class=\"xn-person\">Alexander Rossi<\/span>, and <span class=\"xn-person\">Takuma Sato<\/span> qualifying 10<sup>th<\/sup> through 12<sup>th<\/sup>; and <span class=\"xn-person\">Marco Andretti<\/span>, 14<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 The <span class=\"xn-location\">Indianapolis<\/span> 500 will take place on <span class=\"xn-chron\">Sunday, May 29<\/span>, with live coverage on ABC starting at <span class=\"xn-chron\">11 a.m. EDT<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"xn-person\">James Hinchcliffe<\/span> <\/b>(#5 Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Honda) <b>pole qualifier for the 100<sup>th<\/sup> running of the <span class=\"xn-location\">Indianapolis<\/span> 500, his first &#8220;500&#8221; pole:\u00a0 <\/b>&#8220;I mean, I try not to think about [what it means to qualify on the pole] too much.
