Over half the district&#8217;s Hispanics are of Dominican <a href=\"http:\/\/statisticalatlas.com\/congressional-district\/New-York\/District-13\/Ancestry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">ancestry<\/a> and nearly a quarter of Puerto Rican heritage.<\/p>\n<p>WABC-TV&#8217;s <b><span class=\"xn-person\">Sandra Bookman<\/span><\/b>, <b>Merijoel Duran<\/b> of WXTV Univisi\u00f3n41 and WBLS&#8217;s <b><span class=\"xn-person\">Bob Slade<\/span><\/b> will moderate, with questions \u2013 including audience submissions &#8211; posed by <b><span class=\"xn-person\">Josh Barker<\/span><\/b> of the Amsterdam News and <b><span class=\"xn-person\">Ana Nieto<\/span><\/b> of El Diario. Univisi\u00f3n Radio&#8217;s WADO-AM is also partnering for the event.<\/p>\n<p>WBLS will livestream the debate and the audio will also be available afterwards at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wbls.com\/live\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http:\/\/www.wbls.com\/live<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The 50+ accounted for over 60 percent of the vote in the last race for governor, and they made up the single biggest voting bloc in the last election for Mayor. So it stands to reason that the 50+ will determine the outcome of this race,&#8221; AARP New York State Director <b><span class=\"xn-person\">Beth Finkel<\/span><\/b> said in kicking off the event. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They want to hear what the candidates will do about Social Security, how to keep our neighborhoods livable and affordable amid changing demographics, how to care for our aging citizens \u2013 and for those who take care of them, our family caregivers \u2013 and more.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very excited to be part of this initiative,&#8221; said <b><span class=\"xn-person\">Carmen Villavicencio<\/span><\/b>, Executive Editor of El Diario, the largest Hispanic Publication in <span class=\"xn-location\">the United States<\/span>. &#8220;This is a very important moment for our Latino Community in District 13 and we want all of their voices to be heard by the candidates. We hope that giving the constituents the chance to know each candidate can help them decide who is the best one that deserves their votes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Over a third of voting-age District 13 residents are 50 and above, and nearly 50,000 are AARP members.
