After more than 25,170 entries and 206,450 votes, it was narrowed down to five tasty creations. A panel of community influencers, McDonald&#8217;s <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> owners and employees selected the winning burger.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Pe\u00f1a, 25, of <span class=\"xn-location\">Houston<\/span>, designed the winning burger. &#8220;I am so thankful to McDonald&#8217;s for giving Texans the chance to create a local burger,&#8221; said Pe\u00f1a, who admitted he was surprised by the win.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>When asked about the burger, Pe\u00f1a said he can&#8217;t wait to see his virtual creation come to life. &#8220;I wanted the burger to be as <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> as possible, so <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> toast was a must,&#8221; said Pe\u00f1a. From there everything else was really just my personal preference. Turns out the burger I made was almost an exact match to my mom&#8217;s burger she cooks at home, so really I owe her all the credit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We wanted to give Texans a burger that truly captures the flavor of our great state. It was also important for us to reach out to our guests and lean on their Texan pride. As you can imagine, most of the creations were spicy, large and, of course, loaded with bacon,&#8221; said <span class=\"xn-person\">David Glaser<\/span>, local McDonald&#8217;s Owner. &#8220;The McDonald&#8217;s Burger Showdown Challenge allowed us to bond with our customers and showcase our high-quality ingredients.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The Lone Star Stack is in restaurants until <span class=\"xn-chron\">August 28, 2016<\/span>.
