This is a 3 percent increase in international home sales but a 1.25 percent decrease in international home sales dollar volume from the same time period last year. Approximately 10 percent, or 21,488 home sales and <span class=\"xn-money\">$10.2 billion<\/span>, of this activity occurred in <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> \u2013 a 2 percent increase from the same time frame last year.<\/p>\n<p>From <span class=\"xn-chron\">April 2015<\/span> to <span class=\"xn-chron\">March 2016<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> drew nearly equal percentages of homebuyers from both <span class=\"xn-location\">Latin America<\/span> (including <span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span>) and <span class=\"xn-location\">Asia<\/span>\/Oceania (including <span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span> and <span class=\"xn-location\">India<\/span>). Thirty-four percent of international homebuyers were from <span class=\"xn-location\">Asia<\/span>\/Oceania, while 36 percent of homebuyers were from Latin American. European homebuyers comprised 12 percent of international home purchases, followed by African buyers at 8 percent and Canadian buyers at 4 percent.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> had the highest volume of homebuyers from <span class=\"xn-location\">India<\/span> of any state from <span class=\"xn-chron\">April 2015<\/span> to <span class=\"xn-chron\">March 2016<\/span>, with one in five (20 percent) Indian homebuyers purchasing a home in the U.S. purchasing a home in <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span>. <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> also continued to have the highest share of homebuyers from <span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span>, with more than one in three (35 percent) of international homebuyers from <span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span> purchasing a home in <span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>Chairman Smith concluded, &#8220;<span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span> is now home to the second-largest foreign-born population size in the nation and has the seventh-highest percentage of foreign-born residents compared to statewide population.
