The following eight bands will perform at the 2017 HBOB Invitational Showcase celebration:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><b><span class=\"xn-org\">Alabama A&amp;M University<\/span><\/b>, Marching Maroon &amp; White (Southwestern Athletic Conference) \u2013 4<sup>th<\/sup> appearance <\/li>\n<li><b><span class=\"xn-org\">Alabama State University<\/span><\/b>, Mighty Marching Hornets (Southwestern Athletic Conference) \u2013 5<sup>th<\/sup> appearance <\/li>\n<li><b><span class=\"xn-org\">Benedict College<\/span><\/b>, Marching Band of Distinction (Southern Intercollegiate Athletic <i>Conference<\/i>) \u2013 1<sup>st<\/sup> appearance <\/li>\n<li><b>Bethune-Cookman University<\/b>, Marching Wildcats (<i>Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference<\/i>) \u2013 12<sup>th<\/sup> appearance <\/li>\n<li><b><span class=\"xn-org\">Jackson State University<\/span><\/b>, Sonic Boom of the South (Southwestern Athletic Conference) \u2013 8<sup>th<\/sup> appearance <\/li>\n<li><b><span class=\"xn-org\">North Carolina A&amp;T State University<\/span><\/b>, Blue and Gold Marching Machine (<i>Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference<\/i>) \u2013 5<sup>th<\/sup> appearance <\/li>\n<li><b><span class=\"xn-org\">Texas Southern University<\/span><\/b>, Ocean of Soul (Southwestern Athletic Conference) \u2013 2<sup>nd<\/sup> appearance <\/li>\n<li><b><span class=\"xn-org\">Winston-Salem State University<\/span><\/b>, <span class=\"xn-person\">Red Sea<\/span> of Sound (<i>Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association<\/i>) \u2013 6<sup>th<\/sup> appearance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These bands were selected through a process that included online fan voting, as well as feedback from band directors, HBCU school presidents and Honda representatives. Each of the final eight bands will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the Invitational Showcase, and their universities will receive a <span class=\"xn-money\">$20,000<\/span> grant from Honda to support their music education programs.
