This partnership will allow the carriers to expand competition and serve new destinations. Additional service and more convenient schedules will benefit customers of both companies, while deepening the relationship the airlines have shared for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Starting today, Delta and Aeromexico will work together to enhance the customer experience on the ground and in the air by investing in airport facilities, boarding gates and lounges. They <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/news.delta.com\/delta-and-aerom-xico-21-year-partnership\" rel=\"nofollow\">launched their first codeshare<\/a> in 1994. In 2011, Delta entered into an enhanced commercial agreement with Aeromexico, and in 2012, Delta invested <span class=\"xn-money\">USD$65 million<\/span> in shares of Grupo Aerom\u00e9xico, the parent company of Aeromexico. In 2015, Delta and Aeromexico filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Mexican Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE) seeking approval of the JCA covering transborder flights between <span class=\"xn-location\">the United States<\/span> and Mexico.\u00a0In 2016, both airlines accepted the conditions set by the authorities, and in 2017, they implemented the actions necessary to comply with the required remedies.<\/p>\n<p>In <span class=\"xn-chron\">March 2017<\/span>, Delta completed a cash tender offer to acquire 32 percent of Grupo Aeromexico.
