The death toll is likely to climb as response continues.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Direct Relief staff in <span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span> made an initial delivery of requested medications and supplies in <span class=\"xn-location\">Oaxaca, Mexico<\/span>, on Sunday and are coordinating activities with the Comit\u00e9 Operacional de Emergencia, as well as the State Ministry of Health, COFEPRIS, local health jurisdictions, and the Federal Ministry of Health. <\/p>\n<p>Direct Relief&#8217;s initial commitment of <span class=\"xn-money\">$100,000<\/span> is from its general funds, and\u202fnot\u202fdependent on\u202fwhether the organization receives contributions designated for this particular event.\u202f Moreover, consistent with the obligation to honor donor\u00a0intent,\u00a0100% of any and all donations designated for <span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span> by donors will be used exclusively for this purpose, not for the organization&#8217;s general operations or other program activities outside of Mexico.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Direct\u00a0Relief Mexico\u00a0is a registered\u00a0Asociaci\u00f3n\u00a0Civil\u00a0in <span class=\"xn-location\">Mexico<\/span> and was granted tax-deductible\u00a0status (Donataria\u00a0Autorizada)\u00a0from the Mexican government\u00a0in\u00a02014.
